What do this Latin poem by Martial mean?

He is saying that his Vacerra only admires those that have died and their words of wisdom. He is saying that in order for Vacerra to take any advise, one must have had to die. Then he goes on to say that Vacerra, even though he holds him in high esteem, will not see him as someone to trust and take seriously because Vacerra only sees those that have ped worth taking wisdom from. Then the speaker says that even though he wished Vacerra to hold him in high esteem, he is not willing to die for the privilege.
