Did my ex boyfriend use me or does he want to get back together?

My ex boyfriend and I have been broken up for 7 months (after dating for about 3 years). We have dated each other off and on since about 2 weeks after we broke up. About 2 weeks ago, he and I had a big argument. He told me that he was done and that he didn't wnat to see me or talk to me ever again. I abided by what he said and I didn't contact him at all. Within a week, he was emailing me. I didn't respond. Then, a few days later he called me a couple of times. He ended up inviting me over for dinner and we ended up in bed. I have not heard from him since. Was I being used or is he maybe confused as to what he really wants?
