Affirmative Action At Its Best or At Its Worst?

Geraldine Ferraro, first woman ever selected to run as VP on a democratic ticket, called the Obama selection affirmative action. Affirmative action at its best propels blacks to positions where they hold equal experience and education with others. At its worst, affirmative action propels blacks with less or no experience or education over others with adequate experience and education. So is Obama an example of the best or the worst examples of affirmative action? (Hint, Obama himself said in 2006 that he would not be qualified to run for president in 2008.)
