Why is an Beretta 87 Target Cheetah more expensive then other pistols?
Well, they don't sell that many and it is a specialized target pistol and it is a Beretta. The dollar/euro exchange rate is not that great for the US right now, so imported stuff goes up in price. That model has always been high priced; if you look in a 20 year old Gun Digest/Shooter's Bible it was still on the high scale of price. One poster on another site says he snagged one for $630, which is more than $200 below list price. Even the plain vanilla regular 87 is costing more than most decent center-fire autos. Nobody is making you buy a Beretta. Ruger makes an iconic target auto for much less $$$. H-S target pistol clones are available and may shoot better than the Beretta. You can come up with $1000+ and get a S&W 41, or track down a decent used model for less. Shop the gun stores and shows and maybe you can find a deal. Check the links.
